Médoc and Communales du Médoc

Médoc is a peninsula located between Bordeaux and the Pointe de Grave on the left bank of the Gironde. The two main appellations are Médoc and Haut Médoc. But there are also communal appellations such as Pauillac, Margaux, Saint Julien, Saint Estèphe, etc...Soils are mainly Garonne gravels. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety is often the main one in Médoc wines. It gives them power and finesse and a good ageing potential.
